Heart Shaped Pancakes Ingredients
- Plain flour
- Baking powder
- Egg
- Semi-skimmed milk
- Butter – for frying
- Maple syrup – to serve
- Lemon – cut into wedges
How to make heart Shaped pancakes
- Make the batter – add the flour and baking powder to a bowl and make a well in the centre.
- Add the egg and milk – break in the egg and pour in about one-third of the milk. Stir slowly, bringing in a little flour each time until you have a smooth, thick batter. Gradually add the remaining milk until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
- Cook the pancakes – melt a knob of butter in a frying pan. When hot, pour in enough batter to cover the base. Leave the pan still until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden on the other side.
- Cut heart shapes – slide the cooked pancake onto a chopping board and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out hearts.
- Serve – arrange the heart pancakes on a plate with a small pot of maple syrup for dipping and lemon wedges on the side.
