Motivation Monday: Week 19 Inspiration to Jumpstart Your Week

Hello, friends! Happy Monday and welcome to a new week. How was your last week? Did you manage to exercise every day and eat well? Did you complete the tasks you planned? How was your weekend?

My week was productive and my weekend was relaxing. I checked off most items on my to‑do list, which always feels great—finishing the week with everything done makes the weekend that much more enjoyable.

I published my usual motivation post on Monday and shared tips on how to fit a healthy lifestyle into a busy schedule. I also posted a refreshing Raspberry Peach Ginger Slushie recipe that’s perfect for warm days. During the week I cooked healthy meals for my husband and me while our little one was staying with grandma. We even found time to watch a new season of Game of Thrones and the movie Logan—so excited for the new episode tonight.

I didn’t complete all my runs last week because of back pain, so I skipped two sessions. Instead I focused on yoga and stretching to help my lower back, and I feel ready to get back on track this week.

Last week I wrote about ways to stay healthy despite a busy schedule, including making time for exercise, preparing meals ahead, and stocking a useful pantry. I ended that post with one of my favorite quotes, and today I want to expand on the idea of MAKING TIME.

We all have the same 24 hours in a day, and accepting that fact can change how we use our time. For a long time I felt controlled by time, stressed when I couldn’t finish everything I wanted. After accepting that I sleep about eight hours, I realized I realistically have around sixteen productive hours each day. That perspective helped me plan more effectively.

I keep a weekly list of things I WANT or NEED to do. I usually plan the week ahead and note important monthly tasks. On Sunday evening or early Monday I prioritize those items and organize my days.

I divide my day into sections: time for family, work, exercise, housework, and time for myself. I plan meals, work tasks, and family activities. My husband does the same, then we compare schedules and synchronize. We divide tasks and make sure priorities come first. We also stay flexible—unexpected things happen, and we handle them without letting stress take over. If an evening workout falls through, I move the run to the morning. No big deal.

I often hear people say, “I don’t have time to exercise,” or “I don’t have time to meal prep” or “I don’t have time to learn healthier habits.” I understand that life can be overwhelming, but sometimes those who say this still spend hours watching TV or socializing. When that happens, health and exercise simply aren’t priorities for them. Excuses act as a defense mechanism, giving a false sense of comfort when we aren’t doing what we know we should.

Many people struggle with the concept of time and feel controlled by it. Time is precious and once it’s gone it’s gone—but panicking won’t help. What matters is how we use the time we have. Being flexible and maintaining a balanced life is important. If your priorities are family, health, and happiness, then find ways to fit those into your schedule.

Hugs and kisses. See you next Monday!
