I love making these winter room sprays!
They’re an all-natural (chemical- and toxin-free) way to fill my home with the cozy, fresh scents of the season.
So easy to make and a great way to save money compared with commercial sprays.
All of the winter room spray recipes below follow the same simple base formula:
- Start with a 16 oz glass bottle
- Tip: recycle a glass apple cider vinegar bottle and add a spray top.
- Tip: want a different scent for every room? Use a 4 oz glass spray bottle and make multiple blends. For a 4 oz bottle, divide the recipe by four: 2 oz distilled water, 1/2 oz witch hazel, and about 10–12 drops of essential oil.
- Add 8 oz distilled water to the bottle
- Tip: use distilled water (not spring or filtered) so your spray lasts longer.
- Tip: distilled water is inexpensive and widely available—one gallon can make about 16 bottles.
- Tip: a small funnel makes pouring ingredients into the bottle easier and less messy.
- Add 2 oz organic witch hazel
- Tip: witch hazel helps keep the essential oils dispersed in the water. If you don’t have witch hazel, use 2 teaspoons of Epsom salt: mix the oils into the salt, then add that mixture to the distilled water.
- Tip: if you don’t have witch hazel or Epsom salt, you can skip them; just shake the bottle well before each use to redistribute the oils.
- Add 40–50 drops of essential oils (recipes below give blends totaling 40–50 drops).
